There are many MP3 players available for Windows
for a partial list). These instructions cover how to install Winamp, one of
the older and more reliable players.
You can download Winamp for free at www.winamp.com.
1. When you reach the site click on "Download Winamp." Then, review
the three choices: full, standard, and lite. For most streaming the lite
version will fulfill all your needs. Make sure your selection is check-
marked, click on "download now," and proceed through the download windows.
2. Save this program to a disk in a location that you will remember.
When the program is finished downloading you may open it immediately and
proceed with setup or close it and wait until later to install Winamp.
3. When you do open it you will be given an optional location for the
installation of the Winamp program. You may choose this location or browse
to choose a different location. Once you have chosen a location, press next.
4. The next installation window will ask you how you are connected to
the Internet. Click on the pull-down menu to select a different method of
connection than the one already chosen if you need to.
5. Press next to enter a "user information" window. It is up to your
discretion whether you fill this information in truthfully or not. In this
window you also have a choice of how much information about you is
gathered. Consider the options carefully and deselect or select the choices.
6. In the next window, if you are a new user you may consider using
the "Winamp walkthrough" to learn about how to operate and what to expect
from the program. The walkthrough also provides descriptions of all the
buttons and components of the Winamp player. Once you have become familiar
with the program you may press "run Winamp now." You are now ready to start
playing streaming audio.
7. Test your new software.
